This is the website for the National Inquiry into
Self-harm among Young People. The Inquiry is the UK’s first major investigation of a complex and misunderstood issue that appears to affect 1 in 10 young people in the UK.
The Inquiry was launched on 30 March 2004, at the House of Commons, and the Inquiry Panel will meet regularly for eighteen months. Interim reports will be available from this website for the duration of the Inquiry, and the final report will be published in Autumn 2005.
Members of the press can find a press release about the launch and photos to download by going to the Press and PR section of the website.
Anyone – whether an individual or an agency – can supply evidence to the Inquiry. We are keen to hear from as many people as possible. Click on the Call for Evidence to find out how you can tell us more about your work or experiences around self-harm.
You can keep in touch with the work of the Inquiry through this website – or complete the Keep Me Informed section of the site, and we will update you automatically.
